Urbino — Fano, 2014
For two years I shared everything, every day, with 24 people. When arrived the time we had to separate I knew that I would see many of them only on rare occasions.
I walked 75 kilometers on an abandoned railway, from Urbino to the seaside of Fano and those people walked with me in a relay race, covering 3 km each.
The purpose of that day was not to test myself physically, but to create a situation in which the interaction between me and my friends would have been intimate but at the same time full of symbolism.
The route was on the abandoned railway as an explicit reference to the famous coming-of-age movie Stand by me.
A portrait of each person was shot but the film unfolded inside the camera and they all got record on the same spot, creating a visual representation of the journey: 136.670 steps, physical struggle, weeping, laughter, and engagements between people all in one image.
The nocturnal arrival on the beach of Fano.
