The term design fiction should be read in the same register as science fiction.
It is crossbreed of graphic design and conceptual art.
Design fiction (or critical design, or speculative design, or experimental design) is based on a simple question: "What if ...?"
This query leads to an immediate change of perspective, thanks to which it becomes possible to investigate alternative scenarios to the reality in which we live in, and consequently the limits of the context in which we work.
It is important for us to dedicate part of our time to experimentation, investigating spaces of expression that differ from the commercial sphere.
These researches, which often occur in the context of workshops or artist's residencies, pass through different disciplines and ultimately takes the most diverse forms: editorial projects, audiovisual installations, photographic exhibitions, public art interventions or participatory performances.
Operating within unusual and stimulating scenarios allows us to acquire new skills and, consequently, makes us more aware as designers.
