A research project on the editorial product of the photographic book.
His evolutionary path from the photographer's promotional tool at the beginning of the 20th century, to a space for artistic experimentation in the 60s and 70s, up to contemporary productions.
The study trys to detect the mutual influences of the different categories over the years. 107 volumes are presented and discussed.
The data collected on the volumes are then examined in a comparative method, in search of possible contiguities between visual and physical characteristics and conceptual types of volumes.
The aim is to provide a first and rudimentary critical tool for the analysis of the photographic-editorial product, and to create a theoretical basis for those approaching this type of production.
