Every year Gilead, pharmaceutical company that produces antiviral drugs to treat HIV infection, asks to 5 artist to take part in Together we can stop the virus, awareness campaign with an AR masterpiece.
We attended the call in 2021 which is the 40th anniversary of discovery of HIV.
During research step we had the opportunity to discuss with some patients related to the associations involved in this project (like Anlaids Onlus, ALA Milano Onlus, Arcobaleno ODV, ASA Onlus, Circolo Mario Mieli, LILA Lega italiana per la lotta contro l’AIDS, Milano Check Point, NPS Italia Onlus, Nadir Onlus, PLUS).
We got deeply impressed by the serious dissimilarity between scientific progresses made in these four decades and the illness/virus perception in the social sphere. Just a few people know the meaning of PrEP or U=U for instance.
We decided to represent the distance between medicine and collective consciousness using an engaging and fresh tone. We designed an utopian wheel of fortune where hugest progress wins. This scenario helps to build a personal consciousness inside the viewer and wants to throw down a challenge: will we be able to close the gap all together?
The exhibition has been organized at Combo di Ripa in Porta Ticinese (Milan), from 29th November to 5th Dicember 2021, in occasion of World AIDS Day (1st Dicember).
